Course Description

Compare five major languages to gain a solid foundation in each language and explore what makes each one unique in its logic, challenges and cultural meanings. Languages include Chinese, Japanese, Russian, German and Hebrew. Each language provides a window into the culture of the country and the people that speak it. Students will learn pronunciation and basic grammar for each language and compare them to English and other languages they demonstrate proficiency. The class will look at languages in action through foreign language films, videos and television commercials. By the end of the week, students will be able to speak basic phrases in each language and have a solid understanding of what makes the languages fun to study and speak.

This course is ideal for students who love language learning, or those who face challenges in language learning and are looking to see which other languages might be more in line with their learning style.

Please note times are in Central Standard Time (CST).
