Course Description
Learn about important federal employment laws and examine how they affect workplace practices. Gain key resources to track changes and updates to federal laws and regulations; practice your research to find legal information that applies to your organization.
HR professionals play a key role in ensuring that employment laws are implemented fairly and consistently across their organization and they help their organization comply with rules and regulations. Human resources staff must understand key legislation and any potential changes to rules; in addition to serving as in-house resources, they also develop strategies and procedures to ensure that all team members follow lawful practices and procedures.
Learner Outcomes
After completing this course, you'll be able to:
- Explain how HR professionals help keep their organizations compliant with federal employment laws
- Outline key federal employment laws and list resources for researching them
- Define key terms used to classify different types of workers according to federal law
- Explain how organizations can identify illegal discrimination and harassment in the workplace
- Describe the legal responsibility of employers in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace
- Explain how federal law applies to workplace activities including hiring employees, providing benefits and compensation, and terminating employment
