Course Description

Exploring the 21st Century Learning Skills Framework

Designed for educators of all grade levels, this professional development course focuses on creating student-centered classrooms through the integration of the 21st Century Learning Skills framework (often known as the 4 Cs) . Dive into the 4 Cs: Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, and Communication, and explore how each supports student success. Using interactive presentations and hands-on exploration of web-based tools, develop practical strategies to foster these skills in your students. At the end of the course, take a portfolio of infographics to demonstrate your understanding and application of selected tools to boost student engagement and ownership of learning.

Course Outline


Session 1

  • Define 21st Century Learning Skills and the 4 Cs - Gain a cursory understanding of their purpose and applicability to various scenarios and activities in the classroom.
  • Applications and Tools of the 4 Cs - Explore examples of various web-based tools that fit the 4 Cs.
  • Infographic Assignment - Participants will choose 4 tools (one from each of the 4 Cs) and create 4 individual infographics to share their applicability and usefulness.

Session 2

  • Infographic Presentations - Participants will introduce their chosen tools and share their infographics with the class. All participants will have a chance to comment and explore usability in the classroom.

Learner Outcomes


Participants will identify and apply web-based tools aligned with the 4 Cs to create and present infographics that demonstrate strategies to implement 21st Century Learning Skills in a student-centered classroom and promote success in any academic initiative or professional endeavor.
