Course Description

Before you begin major construction or a renovation project, gain essential knowledge and expert insights to ensure a successful, stress-free experience. Learn about building budgets, writing and reviewing contracts with building professionals, permits, inspections, and other aspects of construction projects.

Course Outline

Each workshop section focuses on a specific topic. Register for each section individually, based on your interest.

PART 1: Construction, Design, Budget
Understand the roles, duties, rights, obligations, risks and relationships of the various parties in this brief but in-depth introduction to the homebuilding and residential construction industries.

PART 2: Contracts and Land Law
Review the legal components of homebuilding and residential construction, including AIA (American Institute of Architects) documents, Homer Owner Associations, zoning, building codes, and easements.
