Course Outline

The program curriculum follows content outlined in A Guide to the PMI® Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK™, Sixth Edition). An expert instructor will introduce and illustrate various project management models, and you will have opportunities to practice and apply skills and competencies through group and individual exercises. 
 
The SMU Project Management Certificate program comprises two integrated modules, “Tools and Techniques” (24 content hours) and “The People Side" (16 content hours), which together provide a comprehensive foundation for implementing a project management approach in your work and organization.

Specific topics include:
  • Implementing Effective Planning and Control
  • Organizing and Supporting Projects
  • Creating Interactive Project Teams
  • Establishing Effective Communications
  • Empowering Project Team Members

Learner Outcomes

In addition to class sessions and materials, students also receive an optional one-hour, individual virtual project management coaching session with a GBMC Project Management Coach.  This session will supplement classroom experience and will reinforce topics and exercises covered in class.

Please Note:

  • Coaching sessions must be scheduled to take place within thirty (30) days after the final class meeting day.
  • Additional parameters of coaching sessions will be announced during class.
