Course Description

In college applications, transcripts and standardized test scores highlight your academic performance.  A personal narrative essay showcases how your individual voice and can show college admissions committees what you can contribute to their school.  Learn how to approach your personal narrative essay and how to create an effective, successful statement that will help your application stand out.  Analyze examples of personal statements, practice writing components of your own narrative and review editing and revision techniques.

Activities in this workshop will include:

  • Analyzing successful personal statements
  • Discussing structure, purpose, audience, and writing techniques
  • Drafting essays in response to prompts
  • Learning revision techniques
