Gain skills and strategies necessary to score well on the Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2) exam and take the next step to achieve your academic goals. SMU's TSIA2 preparation classes present information in manageable units, focusing on each component of the exam. Our experienced instructors will help you to develop the tools to take the TSIA2 with confidence, and they will walk you through the questions you may encounter on the exam.

About the TSIA2 Exam

The Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2) is a series of placement tests for students enrolling in public colleges and universities in Texas, including dual credit courses for high school students. The tests help Texas schools determine whether you’re ready for college-level courses in the areas of reading, writing, and math. Click here for more information about the TSIA2 exam.

SMU works with our instructors to tailor our classroom and live online experiences to the specific needs of the students.

Who should take this course?

This course is designed for students who are dedicated to their personal academic success and is ideal for rising 9th - 12th grade students who are planning to take dual credit classes at a Texas college or their high school. Students should expect to actively participate in class.

  • Quantitative Reasoning (rates, ratios, percentages, and conversions)
  • Basic Algebraic Reasoning (expressions, linear, quadratic, polynomial, algebra in context)
  • Advanced Algebraic Reasoning (exponential, radical, rational, functions)
  • Geometric & Spatial Reasoning (area, perimeter, surface area, volume, transformations, right angles)
  • Probability & Statistical Reasoning (classify data, appropriate representation, probability, central tendency)
